Fort Drum Outdoor Recreation offers a range of possibilities. From equipment rentals to travel services to fun and exciting programs, Outdoor Recreation has got you covered! Find fun and afforadble trips to take through Leisure Travel Services or head to your next grand venture through the Warrior Adventure Quest program.

Gear To Go

 

The Gear to Go counter is located in the Outdoor Recreation Office, offering a wide variety of recreational and event equipment.

Winter items are subject to availability and include ice-fishing, skiing, snowshoes, fat tire bikes, cross-country skis and snowboarding packages. Summer items (subject to rental availability) include canoes, tents, bicycles, campers, sleeping bags, boats, grills, yard games and more. In addition to recreational items, special event items are also available. These items include  Santa and elf costumes, popcorn, cotton candy and Sno-Cone machines. Complete brochures are also available at the Outdoor Recreation facility.

A rental day is considered time of pick up to 12 p.m. the following business day. If rental items are returned later than 12 p.m. on the designated turn-in date, you will be charged an additional day's fee for the rented item(s). All items must be clean and in good working order for acceptance by Family and MWR Staff. Damages/loss will result in additional fees.

All reservations require 1/2 of the rental cost as a deposit (or a one-day rental fee for items $25 or less), payable upon reservation. This fee will be applied to the final cost of goods and/or services. All equipment rentals are made on a first-come, first-served basis.

All amounts paid are non-refundable within 7 days of the reservation date. Half of the amount paid is refundable within 7–14 days prior to the reservation date. All amounts paid are fully refundable outside of 14 days.

Sportsman Lodge

The Sportsman Lodge is available for rent for any special occasion such as weddings, organizational meetings, parties, or FRG meetings. Tables, chairs, a horseshoe pit, grills, and a full kitchen are some of the amenities that may be included with rental for a half or full day. Call Outdoor Recreation for more information, 315-772-8222.

Rental Prices:

  • $50 for 2-hour FRG meetings
  • $75 for 4-hour or less 
  • $125 for full day (more than 4 hours)
  • $175 refundable cleaning deposit

Cleaning deposit and usage fees are both due in full at the time of reservation.

The facility may not be occupied past 9 p.m. No exceptions.

Key return and post-event inspection is at 9 a.m. the next business day. Late returns will forfeit their cleaning deposit unless you have received prior authorization for a later return time.

Recreational Shooting Complex

The Recreational Shooting Complex is located off of Pannels Road between Outdoor Recreation and the Soldier Recovery Unit.

This complex consists of a Rifle and Pistol Range, an Archery Range, and a Skeet and Trap Range. Ammo and weapons are subject to inspection upon arrival at the range, and weapons must be registered at Fort Drum Department of Emergency Services (DES). All shooters must have a range safety card, use only installation-registered firearms, and attend the initial safety briefing prior to using the range.

Complex usage is subject to a $5 daily usage fee, includes use of skeet and trap ranges (tokens sold separately), long range, and outdoor archery range. Rifle and shotgun rentals are available for a $10 usage fee. Select ammo and targets are sold separately. 

Use of these facilities is open to all Active Duty personnel and their Family members, retired military, and authorized DoD personnel. Call Outdoor Recreation for additional requirements or restrictions, 315-772-8222.

 

Firearm Storage

Store your personal firearms at Outdoor Recreation. We can store handguns, rifles, or bows.

According to AR 198-11, storing firearms in your vehicle while on the installation is prohibited, so let us help you ensure you are in compliance.

Vehicle Storage Lot

Vehicle Storage
Vehicle storage fees are due on the 1st of each month. Storage is available on a month-to-month basis at minimum. You can pay for more than one month at a time.

Paintball Arena
  • Field Play
  • Scenario Play

Paintball player package is $30 per person, including: gun, mask, chest protector, tank and hopper, and air. Paint is an additional $40 per case. Each case contains 2,000 rounds of paint. Players must be 10 years of age or older to play. You must call to make a reservation. There is special pricing available for units, contact 315-772-8222 for details. 

Warrior Adventure Quest

Fort Drum offers units and Soldiers exciting outdoor adventure training and recreational opportunities. Units may be eligible for the Warrior Adventure Quest program once every two years.
