Mandatory Rules
1. Children under the age of 14 years old are not authorized in Auto Skills shop area.
2. Children ages 14-17 years old must have a parent/guardian with them.
3. Open-toe shoes are not allowed in shop area.
4. All work will stop 1 hour before closing.
5. No one will be allowed to start any work 1 hour prior to closing.
Safety Rules and Regulations
1. All patrons must attend the Auto Skills Safety class before using the shop.
2. Only the owner can sign the vehicle in.
3. All bay rentals are offered on a first come first serve basis.
4. It is prohibited to work on a vehicle in the Auto Skills parking lot.
5. There is no painting in shop area. Patrons must rent the Paint Booth.
6. Keep bays clean when working and pick up all fluid spills with dry sweep.
7. All tools must be returned clean.
8. Drain all fluids in proper waste containers. Ask staff if you have any questions.
9. All tools that are signed out must be returned. Patrons are responsible for all and any tools they sign out at the shop.
10. If patrons wish to use their own tools, they must get permission from an Auto Skills Staff member.
11. Vehicles must be taken out of the shop when patrons are finished working on them. Please do not block the drive thru.
12. Do not block doors when trying to sign in.
13. There will be a storage charge when leaving vehicle inside overnight.
14. There will be a storage charge when vehicle is left outside in the parking lot.
15. If you receive any tool that is broken, please take it straight back to tool room.
16. Bays must be cleaned before you check out. A staff member will do a confirmation check of bay area.
17. Uncleaned bay area will incur a $20 cleaning fee.
18. Use exhaust fan hoses when vehicle is running.
19. If a patron is unsure of lift points, please check with an Auto Skills Staff member.
Auto Skills Staff members will ensure that all safety rules are being followed.
- Automotive Safety Orientation

Before using the self-help areas of the Automotive Skills Center, customers must complete a mandatory Orientation and Safety Class (no appointment needed for the class).
Orientation classes are free and are held:
Date Time Tuesday 12 PM Wednesday 12 PM Thursday 12 PM Friday 12 PM Please call 315-772-7902 to sign up. This orientation class is open to ID card holders only and is required for ages 14 and up, even for those wishing to assist with a parent or guardian. The class will introduce you to Auto Skills and how it operates, as well as required safety rules.
- Auto Classes

Auto Skills offers a variety of classes that are open for all DoD ID cardholders ages 14 years and older are able to take.
All classes are $5 each.
Participants must pre-register prior to the class and have completed the Safety Orientation Class (held Tuesday through Friday at 12 PM).
Preventative Maintenance: 1st Thursday of each month
Brakes: 2nd Thursday of each month
- Car Washes

Family and MWR maintains two self-help car wash locations on Fort Drum: 10700 Enduring Freedom Drive and 1185 First Street. Each location offers heated bays, vacuum cleaners, air fill and change machines for your convenience.
The car washes are open 24 hours a day during spring, summer, and fall. In the winter, car wash locations will close if temperatures drop below 15 degrees Fahrenheit. 10700 Enduring Freedom Drive Car Wash is open 24/7, regardless of the weather.
- Propane Service

Propane tanks can be filled if tanks meet the applicable safety requirements. The center reserves the right to refuse filling tanks that do not comply. Call ahead for pricing.
- Tow Services

On- and off-post towing to/from Fort Drum is available. Pricing varies depending on the distance. Call 315-772-7902 to inquire.
We offer lockout service on, and off post and jump starts on post only.

- Resale Lot

Car shoppers can see what automobiles are for sale 24 hours a day at the Fort Drum POV Resale Lot located in the front of the Automotive Skills Center. The Resale Lot is open April 1 through October 1. Sellers pay $10 per month and must also have valid registration and insurance on the vehicle. Visit the Automotive Skills Center to make arrangements to use this Resale Lot for selling your vehicle.
