Take a Soldier Fishing

The NY BASS Nation will host the tenth annual Take A Soldier Fishing event on April 27, 2019 at Oneida Shores Park in Brewerton, NY.

Volunteer boaters host either 1 or 2 Soldiers each from the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) stationed at Fort Drum, NY for a half day of fishing followed by a BBQ luncheon. Boaters provide boat, rod, reel & lures along with a life vest for the Soldiers to use for the day. Prizes are awarded for the biggest fish in several categories: drum, carp, catfish, crappie, perch, rock bass, bowfin.

This event is open to Soldiers only (all ranks). 

Remember to bring or wear warm clothing. This event is rain or shine.

Schedule of Events for April 27:

  • 6 am: Depart from Magrath Sports Complex
  • 8 am: Safety brief & boater/Soldier pairing
  • 8:30 am: Boats launch
  • 1 pm: Boats return, weigh in, and lunch
  • 3:30 pm: Prizes awarded
  • 4 pm: Depart to Fort Drum
  • 5:15 pm: Estimated arrival at Magrath Sports Complex

Register on Eventbrite.com by April 19. Registered participants must pick up tickets between April 22 and 26 at Magrath Sports Complex after registering through Eventbrite.
